Why You Might Need a Radiology Referral
Radiology referrals are needed when your doctor requires a closer look at specific areas of your body to diagnose or monitor a health condition. Imaging tests like X-rays, MRIs, and ultrasounds help your doctor see inside your body without surgery, making it easier to identify issues, track progress, or confirm a diagnosis.
Types of Medical Imaging You Can Access

- CT Scan (Computed Tomography) Provides detailed images of internal structures. Often used to detect tumours, injuries, and infections.
- MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) Produces clear images of soft tissues, organs, and joints. Useful for diagnosing neurological disorders, joint injuries, and tumours.

- Nuclear Medicine X-Ray Assesses organ function and structure. Useful for diagnosing thyroid disorders, bone issues, and heart conditions.
- Echocardiography Examines the structure and function of the heart. Used to diagnose heart valve issues, heart failure, and congenital defects.
