Hayfever

Hayfever, also known as allergic rhinitis, is an allergic response to environmental allergens such as pollen, dust mites, pet dander, and mold. It occurs when the immune system overreacts to these harmless substances, triggering inflammation in the nasal passages, eyes, and throat. Hayfever is most common during spring and summer when pollen levels are higher, but it can also occur year-round for those sensitive to indoor allergens. Although not dangerous, hayfever can significantly affect quality of life.

Common Symptoms:

• Sneezing
• Runny or stuffy nose
• Itchy or watery eyes
• Itchy throat, ears, or mouth
• Postnasal drip
• Coughing
• Fatigue, especially after prolonged exposure to allergens
• Headache or facial pain due to sinus congestion
