Ear Infection

An ear infection is an inflammation of the middle ear, usually caused by bacteria or viruses, often following a cold, flu, or respiratory infection. It is more common in children but can affect people of all ages. Ear infections may resolve on their own, but some require treatment with antibiotics.

• Ear pain or discomfort
• Pressure or fullness in the ear
• Fluid drainage from the ear
• Hearing loss or muffled hearing
• Fever (more common in children)
• Irritability and difficulty sleeping, especially in children
• Loss of balance or dizziness
• Itching and redness
